This wonderful “English Garden” inspired wedding held at the Rennaissance Vinoy in St. Petersburg, Florida was one of our favorites in 2014. We paired warm nougat-colored damask linens with white and ivory floral details to perfectly complement the Vinoy Grand Ballroom’s neutral palette and historic architecture. Hundreds of taper candles were lit throughout the space giving one the sense that they stepped into the Vinoy’s historic ballroom and, simultaneously, back in time.
This event gave us the chance to enjoy the beauty of natural elements and greens; the throwback, vintage style of the loose arrangements were created by incorporating stock, snapdragons, queen anne’s lace and silver dollar eucalyptus to give the centerpieces some movement while retaining a classic feel – with each tall centerpieces being set atop a beautiful crystal candlestick, crystal facets showcased the dance of candlelight on each table.
The couple’s incredible feasting table featured a mix of high and low centerpieces and a spectacular display of candles down the length of the tablescape and finished with petite floral arrangements set in footed, vintage glass giving the table texture, depth and (of course) sparkle.
The space was finished with an elegant ivory vinyl dance floor cover for a beautiful, seamless space where the couple, their family and friends, danced the night away!

Designed for Rock and Roll – One of SHOWORKS’ favorite clients, Holiday Inn Club Vacations®, designs their entire event around the entertainment. The client’s former occupation has provided them with close ties to the music industry and each year the planning process of what the event will look like hinges on what the entertainment will be. Key members of Classic Rock and Roll bands come together to celebrate the achievements of the company’s sales staff while raising money for their favorite charities.
The first year we worked with this client, the event was built around “The Temptations”. The décor was retro 60’s Rock and Roll Flash with shades of white, gold and purple. Over the top furniture and pillows in gold patent vinyl added the feeling of Rock and Roll style.
Another year was built around one of the members of “Guns N’ Roses” and the key design element was a Rose surrounded in barbed wire. Red roses acted as the predominate color story against black décor and was prominently displayed throughout the event in a custom video podium, dance floor covering and a large graphic on the stage.
Last year, one of the former members of “Mötley Crüe” was the headline act. This provided us with a somewhat gothic event logo featuring a skull with glowing green lighting emanating from the eye sockets. The logo as was used as a style inspiration for all of the décor. Gothic wrought iron lanterns hung overhead. Green and black furniture with under lighting in green were branded with this logo and by custom logoed pillows. The logo was emulated by centerpiece designs featuring glowing ceramic skulls. Glass skull votives with LED candles were used on highboys to continue the look.
SHOWORKS can’t wait to see what’s in store for this year’s event! Rock on!
An recent trend in Fashion, Color Blocking has made its way to the event industry. Using two colors opposite on the color wheel with another complimentary color can translate itself into a unique looking event with an identity all its own. When SHOWORKS was challenged by a very fashion-forward client to take on this challenge these were the results: a riot of color and a very bold look.
The three colors selected, orange, yellow and blue were introduced in décor, lighting, and soft seating in these vivid colors. These colors were layered throughout the event to provide a vibrant effect.
LED lighting washed the room in radiant color; Integrated lighting in some of the furniture and centerpieces helped to reinforce the three-color scheme and interacted to provide vitality and energy, creating a whole new look and feel for the event.
